Purim is here! Finally, we get to laugh a little!!!
Author Anne Lamott is quoted as saying, “Laughter is a bubbly, effervescent form of holiness” she even calls it “subversive.” I couldn’t agree more.
When we laugh, really laugh, like the full belly kind of laugh, we can lose ourselves for a moment and connect with those we are with. We enter a different dimension.
And it is subversive too. While I am not in the habit of making fun of others, I know that sometimes, I need to take myself a bit less seriously and even laugh at myself. As parents we are all so earnest all of the time!
So here’s to laughter!
Here’s to not taking ourselves too seriously!
Here’s to Purim!
(And here’s to my daughter Yael for her star performance!)
Happy Purim all,
Dasee
